For the second straight year, Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell is the winner of the Herm Harrison Memorial Award.
It annually recognizes the Stampeders player who distinguishes himself in community service efforts.
“I’m very honoured to receive the Herm Harrison Memorial Award,” Mitchell said. “My wife Madison and I will continue to strive to be role models to all children throughout Canada and make a positive impact in the Calgary community.”
In 2015, the couple began Mitchell’s Miracle Day, an event that shows underprivileged youngsters the importance of giving and doing good deeds for others, while rewarding the children with items from their wish list.
“Honestly, my biggest catalyst is my wife,” he stated. “She will always be proud of me for everything I do on the field, but it’s the things behind-the-scenes she’s most proud of and the things we do in the community together.”
The 26-year-old, who now lives in Calgary full-time, also works with YouthLink, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Police Recreational Youth Mentoring Experience, and the TELUS Stamp of Champ program.
In addition, Mitchell hosts 10 to 15 kids at every home game through Bo’s QB Club.
