Shotguns, drugs, weapons seized by ALERT

Two shotguns, various drugs and a number of weapons have been seized from two Calgary homes, one in the community of Dover, the other in Mission.

It comes as Calgary’s organized crime and gang team, ALERT, completed a short-term investigation on November 10, 2016.

Searches of both homes resulted in the collection of two shotguns and ammunition, a combined 85 grams of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, hashish, and an unknown powder, 197 pills (Codeine, Lorazepam, and others unknown), nine replica firearms and more than $3,600 in cash proceeds of crime. Police estimate the street value of the drugs seized at $10,000.

Dana Sutherland, 33, and Alok Uppal, 40, are each facing several charges.

Sutherland is facing 27 charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of recognizance.

Uppal was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of breach of probation.
