Don’t let Christmas get in the way of fun: psychologist

Christmas is getting closer but as the big day draws near, stress levels can often end up higher than Santa’s sleigh.

Psychologist Kelly Moroz, Director of Moroz Child Psychology Group, says it can be easy to postpone fun activities until Christmas day but he wouldn’t recommend that.

“My advice to families would be to – and to each individual person – would be to try and make more of a pattern in these darker months, is the night before or each morning, setting aside two to three things you look forward to doing that night,” he said.

He says people should take a couple of minutes to come up with some ideas even if it was something they were already going to do such as watching a PVRed TV show or doing some reading.

Moroz explains it can be very fulfilling to write something fun into a day planner and then go through with doing it.

He says people shouldn’t just sit there remembering the good times with friends and family in 2016: Call them up and hang out with them again.
