Free exhibit examines impact of residential schools

Organizers hope a display about residential schools can become a learning tool in schools going forward.

The exhibit ‘100 Years of Loss’ is set up at the Genesis Centre in the northeast, showing the affect the schools had on Indigenous communities across Canada.

Organizer Charlotte Yellowhorn McLeod tells CityNews, the display really makes an impact.

“It’s really — it pulls at your heartstrings because it’s not just about me, it’s about our parents and grandparents, and our ancestors and what they’ve had to overcome in order to be here today,” she said.

It will be on display through the end of June and is free to visit.
