Flames carve pumpkins at Ronald McDonald House

The Calgary Flames carved up some cheer at Ronald McDonald house on Monday.

Several players from the Flames showed up to carve Jack-O-Lanterns with the kids and families staying there.

Flames forward Sean Monahan says he’s been coming to this event ever since he arrived in Calgary.

“Whenever you come here to events like this it puts a smile on your face, but it also puts a smile on a lot of kids faces. I just think to come here carve a lot of pumpkins and get in the spirit of Halloween, it is always a pleasure to be here.”

Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta CEO Jason Evanson says it’s a special moment when the kids see the players arrive.

“It’s magic whenever they arrive here to interact with the families,” said Evanson. “It gives our families a boost and goes without saying that many of them are facing some very difficult challenges at the moment when a player shows up here and they can go down and play on the PS3 or like today carve pumpkins it gets their mind off of everything else that’s going on.”
