The Premier is sounding very non-committal about any Calgary 2026 Olympics bid.
Council on Monday voted to spend another $1-million to continue exploring whether the city should go for its second games, but would need the provincial and federal governments on board to put in another million dollars needed to fully explore a bid.
Premier Rachel Notley said she needs to see more information before making any decision.
“I have not had a chance yet to go through the pros and cons on the matter,” she said. “There is a lot of documentation and conflicting opinions and I think we owe it to tax payers to think very hard about the economic benefits to make sure they are significant and real”
Two studies made public recently indicate there would be little economic benefit from hosting the games.
