Chinook Mall +15 over Macleod Trail officially opens

It’s now a whole lot easier to get from the Chinook C-Train station to Chinook Centre.

A walk way that will allow pedestrians to cross Macleod Trail without waiting at a light or disrupting traffic officially opened Friday, after more than a year of construction.

Chinook General Manager Paige O’Neill said soon they will stop all pedestrians from crossing Macleod.

“Next week they’re going to close off pedestrian access across Macleod Trail so they will all have to go up and in,” O’Neill said. “So that will help with the vehicular traffic flow on Macleod Trail as well as the pedestrian traffic flow and keep them safe and even the traffic flow into CF Chinook Centre which can be challenging on some busy days.”

The $13-million price tag was equally shared by the City of Calgary and CF Chinook Centre.
