Another large drug seizure at Coutts crossing

Another big seizure of narcotics has been made by the Canada Border Services Agency at the Coutts, Alberta crossing.

Director for Southern Alberta, Guy Rook, said officers stopped a commercial vehicle hauling produce from California destined for a business in Alberta on December 17.

“Coutts has intercepted another 21 kilos of narcotics believed to be cocaine.” Rook explained. “If it were street ready that would be enough for over 20,000 hits.”

The suspected drugs were found in a closet area within the cab of the truck.

The driver, Kuldeep Singh, 39, of Calgary is charged with four counts under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Just a few weeks ago, the CBSA at Coutts seized nearly 100 kilograms of suspected cocaine inside another commercial vehicle carrying produce.
