RCMP in Banff say human remains found last week by a hiker are those of B.C. man who disappeared a year ago.
Mounties say the remains were found by a hiker near Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park on April 25th after the area was opened following a winter closure.
The Alberta Medical Examiner used dental records to determine the remains belonged to a 22-year-old Whistler, B.C. man who was reported missing to police there in April of 2017.
A group called the British Columbia Missing Report has identified the hiker as Willy Lynskey.
Police do not believe the cause of death is suspicious but they are still investigating.
The missing person’s family in Whistler has been notified.
