Films from around the world to play in Okotoks

The Okotoks Film Festival is hitting the big screen this weekend, bringing films from around the world to the town just south of Calgary.

The festival kicks off with a showing of the Alberta-made feature Ice Blue, which stars Heartland Actress Michelle Morgan, with up-and-comer Sophia Lauchlin Hirt and is directed by Sandy Somers.

Somers says the movie tells the story of a 15-year-old farm girl who asks her father to reconnect her with her estranged mother for her 16th birthday.

“It goes on to reveal how secrets and lies affect family relationships,” she said.

Ice Blue is being shown at 7 p.m. Friday night at Okotoks Cinemas.
