RCMP: Body found at scene of Chestermere house fire

The Chestermere area has had its fourth house fire in less than two weeks.

Neighbours tell 660 NEWS a blaze broke out on Lake Ere Estate around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

“My neighbour knocked on my door this morning at 7 this morning, my alarm just went off, nobody on this end heard the fire truck,” Jeanette said.

She said there is very little left of the house, just a bit of the garage.

Another neighbour says flames were shooting about 20 feet in the air.

They both say a man in his 50s from Eastern Canada lived in the home.

According to RCMP, a man’s body was found on the property. Authorities say the investigation into the death is preliminary, but it is not considered suspicious. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation between the RCMP and the Chestermere Fire Services.
