Parents of Humboldt Bronco crash victim suing

A family that lost their 16-year old son in the Humboldt Broncos tragedy is now suing multiple parties in relation to the bus crash, including the truck driver who appears in court Tuesday.

Adam Herold was one of 16 people that died in April when the team’s bus collided with a transport truck.

The truck driver, Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, was charged just days ago with 16 counts of dangerous driving causing death, and other offences.

Now, Herold’s parents, along with his estate is now suing the driver, the trucking company Sidhu was working for, and the bus manufacturer, saying the roof of the bus was not built to withstand the impact.

They claim it popped off and the occupants were ejected.

They are also calling on a judge to address compensation for motor vehicle crash victims, to declare the intersection where the crash happened unsafe, and to force busses carrying sports teams to have more safety features installed.

No motion of defence has been filed, and the claims have yet to be proven in court.
