Multiple emergency services are trying to find the scene of a plane crash in the Rae Glacier area of K-country, about 80 kilometres southwest of Calgary.
It’s not known what type of plane went down or the number of people on-board.
Public Affairs Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force, David Lavallee says they dispatched a Search and Rescue C-130 Hercules plane out of Winnipeg in response.
“The joint rescue co-ordination centre in Trenton, was made aware of a mayday call from an aircraft operating in the area of Mount Rae this afternoon (Wednesday), that mayday call was followed shortly there after, I don’t know exactly how long after, by the activation of an emergency beacon,” said Lavallee.
The incident has triggered a heavy response from the Kananaskis, Cochrane and Canmore RCMP detachments as well as Kananaskis Emergency Services, Fire and EMS
