CALGARY (660 NEWS) — There are new weight restrictions on one of Calgary’s oldest bridges.
The city says after an inspection of the 9 Ave. S.E. bridge into Inglewood, trucks heavier than five tonnes are not allowed to cross.
Previously the restriction was on trucks weighing eight and a half tonnes or more.
One traffic lane will also be closed to help reduce the weight on the bridge, and there will be detours in place for the heavy trucks.
Construction on the bridge is expected to begin in 2019 and be open to traffic in late 2020.
