CALGARY (660 NEWS) — After much debate and talk — council has approved funding strategies on four major projects, one of which is the events centre in Victoria Park that will include an arena.
The strategy will also cover funding for the BMO Centre expansion, the first phase of the Arts Commons expansion and a new field house.
The approval of the deal means the city can now sit down and discuss the arena with the Calgary Flames.
Administration recently discovered funding in the current budget to help pay for the facility.
Evan Woolley, Jeromy Farkas, Druh Farrell and Peter Demong voted against the motion.
