LONDON – This year is Queen Victoria’s 200th Birthday and the British are throwing a big party.
If you want to get in on the festivities, Calgary travel writer Jody Robbins says Windsor in the United Kingdom is the place to be, and it’s a quick day trip from London.
“At Windsor Castle, you can view the staterooms, just as you can at Buckingham Palace, but in Buckingham Palace the staterooms are only open in August for touring. At Windsor, with all the Queen Victoria celebrations, you can view St. George’s Chapel,” said Robbins.
“They even have their own changing of the guard, and Princess Eugenie, who got married last fall, her wedding outfits will be on display until April 22.”
You can also catch a glimpse of Frogmore Cottage, where Prince Harry and Megan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will soon be setting up their family home.
Another stop on the Victoria itinerary is Kensington Palace, where the queen and empress spent her unusual childhood.
