CALGARY (660 NEWS) – If you were to write a book about this past winter, you could title it “the one bad apple.”
The Spring Equinox will descend on Calgary at 3:58 Wednesday afternoon but it’s hard to not look back on the brutally cold month of February, the bad apple.

According to 660 NEWS Meteorologist Andrew Schultz, winter started off wonderfully for those who aren’t big fans of the cold and snow.
“It’s interesting when you break it down because temperature wise, December and January we were about one-and-a-half to two degrees warmer average wise when it comes to those daytime highs.”
Then February hit Calgary hard with the average temperature for the month 12 degrees below normal. Don’t forget all the snow that came with it too.
“We were 20 centimetres over in February,” said Schultz.

Overall though, Schultz says Calgary came in around three degrees colder than average for the winter season with just a few centimetres below the average amount of snowfall.
Forecasters with The Weather Network are predicting a warmer than average spring for the city with the possibility of a few days of winter weather through March and April.
