CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Alberta election campaign is now catching the attention of Twitter users across Canada.
The #QueerKidsAB is making waves in response to United Conservative Party Leader Jason Kenney’s education announcement on Monday.
Kenney said that, if elected, he plans to enact an older education act that would nullify the NDP’s Bill 24, that eliminated some loopholes on gay-straight alliances in schools.

The move would mean that teachers would once again be allowed to tell parents if a child has joined a GSA and principals can decide if a GSA is welcomed to a school.
Kenney also said that school leadership could decide the fate of transgender bathrooms.
“Nobody has raised this with me as an issue. I think the best approach is to let principals of schools figure out a common sense approach.”
Many people have already taken to Twitter opposing Kenney’s plans using the #QueerKidsAB with some saying they plan to wear rainbow clothing on Tuesday as a show of unity.
That hashtag has climbed to the top trending spot for all of Canada on Twitter.
