660 NEWS and CityNews officially part of Alberta leaders debate

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The parent company of 660 NEWS and CityNews, Rogers Media, will be part of the consortium hosting the Alberta leaders debate on Thursday, April 4th.

Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notley, United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney, Alberta Party leader Stephen Mandel and Liberal leader David Khan will take part in the debate.

The debate will air live across television and digital platforms on CityNews Calgary, CityNews Edmonton, Omni TV, CBC Calgary, CBC Edmonton, CBC News Network, CTV Calgary, CTV Edmonton, CTV News Channel, and online at Postmedia’s CalgaryHerald.com and EdmontonJournal.com.

On radio, the leaders debate will be broadcast province-wide on CBC Radio, along with extensive in-depth coverage on 660 NEWS.

CityNews will be carrying a special newscast at 5 p.m. ahead of the debate. The debate will officially get underway at 5:30 p.m. and post-debate analysis will be held afterwards from 7-7:30 p.m., followed by a Facebook Live from 7:30-8 p.m.

The 90-minute debate will be moderated by CTV Calgary Anchor Tara Nelson.

The consortium’s criteria for an invitation to the debate is the same as in previous years: leaders of parties that were elected to the legislature under their current party banner were invited.

Panelists include City News Reporter Courtney Theriault, CTV Edmonton Anchor Erin Isfeld, CBC Alberta Provincial Affairs Reporter Kim Trynacity and Postmedia Legislature Reporter Emma Graney.
