CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A judge will make a decision in the first-degree murder case of Nathan Gervais on May 8th.
Gervais is charged in the death of 18-year-old Lucas Strasser-Hird outside of the Vinyl Nightclub in the Beltline in November of 2013.
The case was supposed to get underway in April of 2016, but Gervais fled the country a week before jury selection.
He was arrested in Vietnam in November of 2017 and was brought back to Canada in February of 2018.
The case finally got underway in January.
The justice reserved his decision after final arguments were presented on Friday.
The Crown says the fact Gervais fled the country days before his trial was to begin showed his guilt.
The defence says he should be acquitted or found guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter,
Three others are serving time in the killing.
