CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgary police now have two people in custody after a deadly hit and run Monday in northeast Calgary, that may be tied to speed racing.
Investigators say an Acura TL and a Toyota Tacoma were both speeding along 32 Avenue at around 9:30 p.m and went through a red light when the Acura struck a man.
The 38-year-old man was taken to hospital where he later died.
Police say both vehicles fled the scene.
Sgt. Colin Foster explains what kind of charges could be laid from this incident.
“Certainly hit and run causing death is one option. There’s also dangerous driving causing death and obviously street racing causing death.”
Police say that a 19-year-old man was taken into custody in Chestermere. Another person was taken in to custody on Tuesday afternoon.
