CALGARY (660 NEWS) – After two recent homicide cases linked to domestic violence in Calgary, a local organization is shining a light on the problem.
The recent incidents involved the deaths of Jasmine Lovett and her 22-month-old daughter Aliyah and a man in his 40s in Rundle on May 3.

Andrea Silverstone, Director of the Sagesse Domestic Violence Protection Society, says these incidents are tragic reminders that domestic violence is prevalent in the city, and everyone has a role to play in reducing it.
“It knows no boundaries and not only affects the individuals who are being abused but also has an effect on family members, friends, co-workers, and larger Calgary Community. We all have a role to play in preventing violence and abuse in our community.”
Last year police responded to more than 18,000 domestic calls, with 5,000 of them involving violence.
There are several organizations that help victims and if you are in immediate danger you should call 911.
