Food blogger shares special perogy recipe in new book

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — A leading Alberta food blogger has released her second cookbook and says readers will find some unusual flavours inside.

The whole first chapter of The Prairie Table is dedicated to Karlynn Johnston’s Ukranian heritage and includes family recipes.

“The first one is my baba’s secret perogy recipe, which tons of my friends have been wanting for years, I’ve never published it on my blog or anywhere else, it’ll only ever be in this cookbook,” she said.

Johnston, who is behind the blog The Kitchen Magpie, says along with dinner party ideas, there’s some cocktails, including one featuring a prairie staple.

“Strawberry Rhubarb Gin Fizz, that’s just something we came up with to use one of my three rhubarbs up,” she said.

The Prairie Table is a follow up to Johnston’s debut baking book Flapper Pie and Blue Prairie Sky.
