Father deliberately set fire that killed both his daughter and himself: police
CALGARY (660 NEWS) — There are still more questions than answers after a weekend explosion in a northwest Calgary home killed two people and injured a third.
Police responded to reports of a house fire on Saturday afternoon in the community of Kincora.
Authorities are now investigating this as a domestic-related homicide and attempted murder. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Dorsa Dehdari. The second person killed, believed to be the suspect, has been identified as Heidar Dehdari — Dorsa’s father.

The other daughter, identified in court documents as 15-year-old Dorna Dehdari, suffered life-altering injuries.
Staff Sgt. Martin Shiavetta says there had been a lot of tension in the home. He says police went there in December for a domestic call related to a verbal confrontation.

On the day of the explosion and just hours before police were called to the home on Kincora Drive, Dorsa sent out a tweet which a friend of hers translated from Farsi to English for 660 NEWS and it roughly says
“I wish from the bottom of my heart that my dad dies, so he wouldn’t make us suffer so much. It’s like I can’t stand it anymore.”

Friends say that her relationship was often strained with her father.
In conversation with other local media outlets, other friends confirmed that her father also died in the incident, while her younger sister was hurt. It’s believed that her 15-year-old sister is in the hospital with fire-related injuries that are serious and potentially life-threatening.
According to her Facebook profile, Dorsa was studying media and communication at the University of Calgary.
