Meet Rosco, the Calgary hero dog!

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It is truly a story of man’s best friend.
A family from Calgary said they’re extremely luck after their dog Rosco came to the rescue during a medical emergency.
Brittany Ouellette was out for a day in the mountains on November 3, 2018, and left Rosco at home with her dad Bryan.
Bryan suffered a stroke that afternoon, leaving the left side of his body paralyzed.
“He was tapping the floor with his right foot and Rosco actually came and propped my dad up to grab his phone to call 911,” said Ouellette. “All the doors in the house were locked, and so Rosco helped my dad get to the front door to unlock it for the paramedics to get to him.”
Paramedics took Bryan to Foothills Hospital where he eventually needed surgery, that’s when Ouellette got the call while still out of town.
“We didn’t know what we were walking into when we got to the hospital,” she said. “We still had a 45-minute drive in front of us so we were worried and calling around trying to get a hold of people that could get there before us. We made it there and he lived to tell the story.”
Thankfully, Bryan made a tremendous recovery and Ouellette says the story would have a different ending if not for Rosco’s efforts.
The family said that Rosco is a hero for what he did.
“My dad is so lucky that he is able to walk and talk today, cause that’s not the fact for many others. We know that we’re lucky,” she said.
The dog’s efforts were recently rewarded as Rosco was one of three dogs inducted into the Purina Animal Hall of Fame in a ceremony in Ontario last week.
