City of Airdrie issues flooding alert

Airdrie – (660 NEWS) The City of Airdrie has issued a flooding alert for Nose Creek and East Lake Park.

On its website, the city said people should stay away from moving water which could be deeper and be moving faster than it appears.

The pathways and bridges in Nose Creek and East Lake Park have been closed, as of 11:45 a.m., Friday morning.

Another area of concern is the Sagewood and Chinook Winds baseball diamonds.

The City is also hoping people point their downspouts away from their homes and remove and blockages in water basins to make sure the water is flowing.

At this point, it’s not known if the alert will affect Saturday’s Pride Festival planned in the city at Nose Creek Park.

The city also has tips on how to protect yourself and keep your property safe from the water.
