Calgary Zoo saves baby penguin following scare

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A baby penguin is no longer on thin ice after a scare at the Calgary Zoo.

Earlier this month, the zoo saved a king penguin chick after its egg prematurely broke.

They patched the shell with a piece of shell from a Humboldt penguin egg from years before and tried to keep the penguin clean and warm.

After the chick emerged from its egg, it was quickly placed with a foster mom named Diana and over the past couple weeks has more than doubled its weight.

The zoo says the baby penguin is officially out of the woods, and they will hold a gender reveal soon.
