CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It appears some Starbucks locations are closing in Calgary.
An employee at the Kensington location confirmed the store is open until 5 p.m. Tuesday but then will shut down for good.
The Bow location closed on Oct. 4.
Right now, it’s unclear how many stores in Calgary could be closed.
A report last year said Starbucks would be closing 150 poorly-performing stores in 2019.
In a statement emailed to 660 NEWS, a spokesperson couldn’t confirm which Calgary stores were closing, saying they have deep relationships in the Calgary community.
“As a normal part of doing business, every year we open many new stores, we close some, and renovate/relocate a few others. We consider many factors when we make these decisions. When we decide to close a store, we go to great lengths to minimize negative impacts: we offer all affected store partners roles at other stores, we communicate to customers and community neighbours on how we will continue to support them moving forward.”
