EDMONTON (CityNews) – A worker needed to be rescued from a downtown highrise, as a wind warning was in effect in Edmonton.
WATCH: A witness captured video of the scary incident
Emergency crews were called to the scene Friday afternoon to the Stantec Tower where a window washer was hanging from a rig.
A video taken by a witness showed the platform swinging wildly, at one point crashing through a pane on the Stantec Tower, two or three floors above ground.
The scaffolding then swung back the other way and, when it hit the building again, the worker slipped and was left hanging in a harness.
A bucket truck was used to rescue the worker and bring them safely back to the ground.
EMS confirms one person was treated, but their condition is unknown.
A broken window could also be seen on the building.
Environment Canada says wind gusts of up to 100 km/h were possible as much of southern and central Alberta was under a wind warning.
Stantec is Canada’s tallest building outside Toronto.
