Cavalry FC recognized with three year-end award nominations

TORONTO (660 NEWS) — The Canadian Premier League has revealed its end-of-season individual player and coaching award nominations, and Cavalry FC is well-represented.

Marco Carducci is up for the Golden Glove, which goes to the top goalkeeper. The 23-year-old Calgarian appeared in 29 games in all competitions this year, which included a deep run in the Canadian Championship and a victory over Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps at B.C. Place. He finished the year with nine clean sheets along with 65 saves. Carducci was also the first CanPL player to earn a call-up to the Canadian national team.

Striker Dominique Malonga is one of three nominees for Player of the Year. His 11 goals saw him finish second in the goal-scoring race.

Tommy Wheeldon Jr. is a finalist for Coach of the Year. Under his tutelage, Cavalry captured the Spring and Fall seasons and made the semi-finals of the Canadian Championship. His side also scored the most goals for and had the fewest goals against.
