CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The winter weather has made it a rough week on Calgary roads.
According to police, there have been over 900 crashes in the city since Monday, many of them they attributed to the snow and ice on the roads.
Thankfully, no more snow is expected to follow in the coming days, which makes road clearing easier for city crews.
Chris McGeachy, with the roads department, says they’re finishing up the priority one routes and moving on to other streets.
“Those are the routes that connect the priority ones like Kensington Road and Fairmount Drive, and they’ll be working on those for the next 24 hours.”
McGeacghy adds crews are on day two of a seven-day snow clearing plan.
“We do expect the temperatures are going to start to rise here, and that’s going to help us with our snow clearing efforts. We just want to remind people to be safe out there, take plenty of time to get to where you need to go this weekend and drive to winter conditions.”
