CALGARY (660 NEWS) – As Calgary gets ready for another cold snap, roads crews are reminding you to drive with caution.
Chris McGeachy with the City’s roads department says freezing temperatures overnight could cause some problems around the city.
“In some areas of the city, crews may have laid down some pickle mixture so that’s some salt and gravel to improve traction. Just want to remind people to take it easy on the roads.”
He warned while many roads look ok, there may be some icy patches because of the temperatures.
McGeachy adds crews will be working around the clock to make sure roads are clear.
“We’re always monitoring the weather situation. We do anticipate some extreme cold temperatures, it may or may not be coupled with snow. We will be out there, trying to mitigate the risk to Calgarians.”
Road crews are currently working on high-volume priority one roads including Glenmore and Crowchild Trail.
