Rush drummer Neil Peart dead at 67

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Neil Peart, the drummer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band Rush, has died at the age of 67.

A spokesperson for the Peart family tells Rolling Stone Peart passed away Tuesday after a battle with brain cancer.

Peart is considered one of the best drummers to ever do it, with more than a handful of accolades to back that up.

Peart teamed up with lead singer Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson in 1974 — the band toured from then until 2015.

Rush and Peart were invested in the Order of Canada in 1996 and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
