OTTAWA (660 NEWS) – The Transportation Safety Board says it will deploy a second team of investigators to probe the black boxes of the Ukraine flight that was shot down in Iran three weeks ago.
The TSB says the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder are still in Iran and investigators there are assessing options for download and analysis.

“The TSB will deploy a second team of investigators who specialize in aircraft recorder download and analysis once it is clear when and where that work will be done,” said the TSB in a tweet, adding Iran is leading the investigation.
“Because of the many Canadian fatalities, the TSB has Expert status,” continued the TSB’s Twitter thread.
In a release, the board said the investigation doesn’t end with the recorders, even though the black boxes could provide crucial information.
“There is much more analysis required of all the information gathered in order to determine the many factors that caused or contributed to this accident.”
The TSB says it will provide another update on the crash investigation when it can.
