Ammonia leak prompts evacuation of YMCA

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A YMCA in Calgary has re-opened after being evacuated Wednesday morning.

An ammonia leak triggered the alarm inside the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge around 9:20 a.m.

Calgary fire crews quickly evacuated the YMCA and found the ammonia leak was coming from a compressor in the refrigeration room.

Crews shut down the compressor and ventilated the room.

Thankfully no one was injured and people were allowed back into the building an hour later.
