CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Two homes have been lost after a fire in the southeast community of Riverbend.
Fire crews were called to a two-alarm fire on Riverstone Road around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were coming from two homes, both eventually destroyed by the flames.
Some nearby homes were also damaged.
Four people from the homes escaped safely, with one person treated for minor burns and another sent to hospital for smoke inhalation.
Acting District Chief Trevor Sommerfeld says they’re trying to figure out where the fire started.
“Our investigators will go through and determine cause and origin.”
Sommerfeld adds crews aggressively attacked the fire to protect other neighbouring homes.
