Free non-medical masks now available at your local drive-thru

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Millions of non-medical masks are now being given away across Alberta.
Last month, the provincial government announced a partnership with A&W, McDonald’s and Tim Hortons to provide the masks, free of charge, at hundreds of drive-thru locations.

“We’re proud to be the first province in Canada to support residents with free masks for use in situations where physical distancing may not be possible,” said Health Minister Tyler Shandro.
“Thank you to our restaurant partners, franchise owners and staff members, who are volunteering their time and effort to distribute these masks.”
Masks have also been provided to many municipalities, First Nations communities, Metis Settlements, and other local agencies. This includes rural and remote communities without easy access to a partner restaurant drive-thrus. pic.twitter.com/zaAeXYz1sC

Every Albertan is able to go to these drive-thrus and receive a package of four, one-time-use masks.
The masks are being given on the honour system, meaning Albertans are asked to respect the limit of one package per person to ensure everyone who wants masks can get them.
Non-medical masks are also being provided to many municipalities, First Nations communities and Metis settlements that don’t have access to these drive-thrus.
At this point, 20 million masks are being made available, with another shipment of 20 million expected to arrive soon as well.
