Poop in the water at Chestermere Lake

CHESTERMERE – The City of Chestermere is closing all swimming areas of Chestermere Lake after tests of the water showed “excessive levels” of fecal matter.
The city says concerns about the water quality were flagged during weekly tests so the city hired a private company to do more tests to confirm suspicions.
Beaches will still be open but the lake will be closed to swimmers for the weekend and into next week.
The city says you can still be on the lake in a boat so long as you’re not physically entering the water.
Contact with contaminated water can result in ear, eye, skin, and gastrointestinal issues.
