Smoke from B.C. fires could affect Calgary’s air quality

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – You can expect a bit of haze in the skies over Calgary Friday.

More smoke from wildfires in the Okanagan and the Kootenay region has made its way to the city.

According to firesmoke.ca, that smoke could hang around well into this weekend.

The hazy skies are also affecting the air quality in Calgary and neighbouring communities.

The Air Quality Health Index is expected to reach 4 on Friday which is just inside the moderate risk range.

That should hopefully improve to a 3 on Saturday which is low risk.

The smoke could also cause problems for those with respiratory issues.

You’re encouraged to limit your time outdoors and make sure all windows are closed while the smoke and haze remain.
