Dozens of Enmax customers complain about new phone scam

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Enmax customers are being told not to fall victim to a new phone scam.

An automated message claims to be from Enmax and tells people their account is overdue and their bill must be paid immediately or electricity will be disconnected.

Customers are told to pay the bill by calling a contact centre or by paying in person at a select address or a convenience store.

Enmax says it does not ask customers to provide payment information over the phone, and those who receive this call should hang up and contact their customer care line at 403-310-2010.

it says it has received dozens of reports about the scam over the past 24 hours.
