Foothills Hospital outbreak grows, forces more into isolation

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The number of health care workers under isolation due to a COVID-19 outbreak at Foothills Hospital has jumped considerably.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) said in a statement that 154 more staff members were told to quarantine on Tuesday, bringing the total number to 290.
No more health care workers have tested positive for the infection, but five more patients and two visitors have, bringing the total cases connected to the outbreak to 60.
All patients who test positive or have symptoms are isolated and treated in designated rooms.
Any patient with symptoms, or who has tested positive for COVID-19, is isolated and treated in designated rooms.
An additional nine surgeries have now been postponed.
AHS says the decisions on surgeries will be made on a daily basis depending on staff availability. It says all emergency surgeries will go ahead.
