‘Health strikes result of proposed cuts,’ says Notley

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Following the health strikes in Alberta Monday, NDP Leader Rachel Notley is speaking out.

Notley believes the strikes are a result of the UCP government’s proposed cuts to the health sector.

“So exactly which member of the UCP brain trust over there is surprised that these workers have had enough and are finally standing up for themselves,” said NDP Leader Rachel Notley in the legislature Monday.

Notley adds the government needs to “stop attacking public health care.”

“They are tired of seeing the care they provide and the work they do jeopardized over and over, when will this government realize that Albertans don’t want this chaos and stop with this plan to fire eleven thousand frontline health care workers.”

Notley adds, “Instead of a thank you, Jason Kenney’s UCP government threatens to fire 11,000 of them, calls them overpaid, and says the work they do does not matter.”
