Trudeau and Nenshi discuss COVID-19, city priorities

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently spoke with Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic.

A release on the Prime Minister’s website said he and Nenshi spoke about the rising number of active cases in Calgary which hit 3,434 on Tuesday.

Trudeau reiterated his commitment to helping municipalities, provinces, and territories respond to the pandemic and ensuring economic recovery.

Nenshi also brought up the homelessness situation in Calgary and the Rapid Housing Initiative, which will help address urgent housing needs in the city by creating new affordable housing options along with infrastructure priorities.

Trudeau and Nenshi also agreed that every level of government needs to take action and work together on the response to COVID-19, to protect the health and safety of Calgarians, Albertans and all Canadians.
