Short film of cattle-round up released by National Film Board

DAWSON CREEK (660 NEWS) – A short new film showcasing the sights and sounds of a cattle-round up in Dawson Creek, B.C, has been released by the National Film Board.

The Director, Nettie Wild, says what really inspired her to put together the film is the large drone shot of the large circular sorting pen.

“This might be an image that will reach out and pull people into the story no matter who they are whether they are major ranchers or animal rights activists. Doesn’t matter who you are. It’s an intriguing image it will pull you into this.”

Wild adds the film really captures the sounds and sights of cattle, farmers, auctioneers, and horses. It gives you an idea of the lifestyle of farm families.

“It’s extraordinary because it’s taking you into a way of life of these farm families that at roundup time and that happens right across the nation at fall so that is exciting, dramatic, and familiar.”

After watching the film, Wild hopes consumers will understand that family farms are a place of balance in these controversial times.
