AHS breaks down acute care and ICU bed situation

Alberta Health Services has taken to Twitter to explain just how many hospital beds and ICU spaces will be available for COVID-19 patients.
As of Monday’s update, 453 Albertans were in hospital with the virus, 96 in an intensive care unit.
AHS says in the coming weeks, around 2250 acute care beds and 425 ICU beds will be allocated for COVID-19 patients across the province, which they say is much higher than their current worst-case scenario of 161 beds.

That number comes from the AHS early warning system they use to predict future hospitalization numbers.
In Calgary, ten more critical care spaces were opened over the weekend, 20 have opened in the Edmonton area which has more than half of the current hospitalizations.
