CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The City of Calgary wants Santa Claus declared an essential service.
City council has signed a Notice of Motion asking the province and the federal government to clear the way for Santa’s sleigh, despite the pandemic.
It would exempt the jolly old elf and all his reindeer from quarantine measures, so his annual mission to deliver toys to children is not interrupted.
The notice, however, does say that Santa must follow all physical distancing requirements and the city’s mask bylaw.
Council is also recommending that kids still leave out the traditional milk and cookies, along with hand sanitizer.
