CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Even as Calgary’s unemployment rate remains high, the city continues to experience strong population growth.
Stats Canada says between July 2019 and 2020, it grew by just under two per cent–one of the largest increases in the country and ahead of the national average.
It estimates Calgary is now a city of more than 1.5 million people.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi responded on Twitter, writing Calgary is one of the best places to live.
This happens because of what we’re building here together.
Even as we work through our economic recovery, the fact that Calgary has been consistently labeled as the best place to live in the Western Hemisphere is sending a message to the world. https://t.co/KzlGldq5uI
