How good is Calgary’s snow clearing?

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – How good is the city at clearing the snow compared to other cities? That’s the question being asked following Calgary’s dump of snow Tuesday.
The city’s snow and ice control policy was last updated about ten years ago, and the budget for snow clearing this year is around $40 million.
Calgary spends the least amount of money on snow clearing when compared to Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, and other large Canadian cities.
$65 million is set aside in Edmonton, which is $25 million more than Calgary for snow clearing, but Calgary is slightly bigger than the capital.
Between 2010 and 2019, Edmonton got an average of 124 centimetres of snow. Calgary is currently at 144 centimetres.
Earlier this year, city council approved taking another look at the snow and ice clearing policy to try and help clear areas of the city faster during major snowstorms.
