Masks to be work while at the gym, province clarifies

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – If you are heading to the gym in the near future, don’t forget to wear your mask.

The provincial government recently added more guidelines for gyms and fitness centres, including the rule that all people doing low-intensity workouts wear a mask.

The only exception to this rule is for one-on-one training for high-intensity workouts.

The guidelines also ask for a minimum of three metres distance for all people engaging in physical activity in these centres.

On Monday, the province relaxed rules for fitness centres allowing low-intensity workouts by appointment only. That decision led to confusion among gym owners over what is classified as low or high intensity.

Many gym owners point that what might be rigorous exercise for some is not the same for others.
