Cavalry FC player joins Canadian men’s Olympic qualifying team

GUADALAJARA, MEXICO (660 NEWS) — A familiar face has been added to Canada’s roster ahead of the team’s CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship opening match versus El Salvador.

Cavalry FC’s Mohamed Farsi joins the squad after injuries to forward Kris Twardek and defender Thomas Meilleur-Giguere.

Twenty-one-year-old Farsi had already been training with the group in Mexico, preparing as an extra.

The defender/winger joined Calgary’s Canadian Premier League side in 2020 and was named the U-21 player of the year after an outstanding showing at The Island Games in Prince Edward Island.

He joins fellow Cavalry teammate David Norman Jr. on the Canadian team.

Friday’s kick-off versus El Salvador is 4 p.m. MT.
